Microsoft ending support of Windows XP operating system

Microsoft-XP-2013-End-of-Support If your healthcare practice runs any computers with Windows XP, you will face  considerably increased risk of data breaches and HIPAA violations in less than 24  hours.  Beginning April 8th, 2014 @ 11:59pm EST, Microsoft will no longer provide  security patches / updates for Windows XP, which is expected to magnify the  operating system’s vulnerabilities to malware and hacking.  If unsure of their  systems’ status, firms are advised to disconnect any affected computers from  networks at this time, until steps are taken to ensure compliance.

For assistance in determining their proper course of action in these situations, firms often use  IT & Operations Consulting Services.

Threats from using outdated operating systems must be factored in and resolved with your company’s annual Meaningful Use Risk Analysis.
